ORGANIC FARMING – PERMACULTURE
After a short meditation, you will walk around the farm with Nico, to connect with this magical place and with nature in general. Small Axe is a 4 acres organic/permaculture farm, planted with numerous different varieties of crop trees. Here, observing, and following Nature’s guidance matters more than producing food. If you respect its pace and its rules, if you work in harmony with its flow, Nature is generous. The harvest at Small Axe is abundant. The excess of organic food is given to elderly people in the villages of the East coast.

SELF SUSTAINABILITY
Solar energy, water collection and recycling, food processing, natural building are all part of Nico’s daily life. During your visit, you will see various eco installations and how each one is integrated in the life on the farm. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. (*)

PRESENCE “Meet your deeper self and discover a realm of quietness, awareness and love.”
Nico is a Teacher of Presence, trained by Eckhart Tolle. Living in the present moment, in full awareness, can only occur if you are able to discipline your mind. The purpose of this short spiritual journey is to discover some keys to find inner peace and improve your ability to focus on the present moment. You will learn practices to stop the mind, and dissolve negative emotions. This can help you to experience deep quietness, or Presence, whatever the situation is. A teaching session is included in the visit. Conscious breathing, inner body awareness, emotions monitoring, embodying Presence…

Nico is a passionate French cook. You will be served a simple, yet delicate lunch, made from Small Axe goodies. The magnificent view of the ocean and mountains favors a relaxing mood, so you will be able to chill in the hammock or use a long chair, while drinking a bush tea or a coffee to close the meal.
If time allows, you can walk to the river for a refreshing dip in the natural pools.
Good Weather is an important part of this experience. Even if “Presence” can be practiced everywhere and at any time, the connection with nature in the garden is part of the process to relax the mind, stop the busy thoughts, and access the power of “Presence”. Thus, this activity can be cancelled in case of heavy rain.

Nico, your host for the day, is a spiritual teacher, organic farmer, and business consultant. He has been living in Dominica permanently since 2006. After a stressful business life in Europe, he decided to shift radically. He is now living in the rain forest, deep into the luxuriant mountains of Dominica. Nico imagined a self-sufficient, eco responsible living system to emancipate from “Babylon lifestyle”. Lumber house, solar power, rainwater collection, recycling, composting, permaculture… No neighbors, no pollution, plenty of food in the garden… A man who left his ambition and vanities behind and focuses on the meaning of Life.
