- Credit cards ARE NOT WIDELY ACCEPTED EVERYWHERE – You can use cards all over Roseau, at most gas stations, and at some hotels and large restaurants, but most small shops in our area DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS.

BUSES
BUSES are cheap and good enough. It will cost you about 10 Eastern Caribbean dollars to get from here to Roseau, the capital, and around EC$ 20 each way to get to say Portsmouth or Laudat, where the boiling lake hike normally begins.
Buses go towards Roseau in the morning from 6 to 9, then it goes quiet until about 1.30pm., then the afternoon return trips from Roseau begin, bringing back the people that went to town, Roseau, in the morning. So from about 1pm there are a few buses heading back to Roseau. There are very few buses mid-morning and mid afternoon
Last return bus from Roseau leaves at 5 pm. The bus stop is outside Jays’ bookstore and Burton electrical, in Kennedy Avenue. (bus leaves when it is full; PLEASE BE PATIENT.)
There are no buses on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and public holidays.
Look for the buses stops in Roseau in Kennedy Avenue heading to grand fond, rivière cyrique, Morne jaune, la plaine or delices.
They all pass our access road. Just tell the driver to drop you at our access road, then walk inside until you reach our parking area.
Each village, across the island, has its own share of buses, and each goes from the village to Roseau and back again. It is quite simple. If you need to go anywhere else apart from Roseau, you wait at a junction for the relevant bus to pass, heading for the village you are going to.
HITCH-HIKING works really well, and it is still safe for everyone, allowing you to reach your destination. Weekends are slower simply because there is not much traffic, and Sundays no buses, no opened shops, but loads of nature and church goers.
**OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY**
Full details can also be found on this link https://www.3riversdominica.com/product-category/cultural-adventures/
The local village, Grand Fond, is cool & welcoming. Most guests end up befriending at least one or two locals during their stay here. On foot it is a 45 minute hike, very steep in some parts, on bushy mountain trail, or 10 to 15 by car via the road. You can find small village shops/stores here.
We do offer a few community activities, click here for the full list to choose from https://www.3riversdominica.com/product-category/cultural-adventures/
As a member of pack for a purpose, we encourage guests to donate small items to our worthwhile community causes. Follow this link for details www.packforapurpose.org/docs/countries/dominica-west-indies/3-rivers-eco-lodge/
**SAFETY & HIKING**
Dominica is a safe island with a relatively low crime rate, violent crime is very rare and in our particular area any kind of crime is unusual. Guests should be more aware in Roseau and larger towns. Almost every single person in our village is kind and welcoming. There are no dangerous animals, no poisonous creepy crawlies (though plenty of interesting ones – like the late night fire fly shows).
You can hike directly from the lodge to an abundance of awe-inspiring waterfalls and other sites at no cost. If you want to wander, it is easy. If you want a guide please tell us so one can be organized for you. A guide is a great way not only to get to know more about the nature during the hike, but also a good opportunity for company, and to meet a Dominican and chat about local life and culture. We do not advise doing any long hikes alone, in case fall or twist an ankle
We STRONGLY RECOMMEND A GUIDE for The boiling lake, Morne Diablotin, Perdu-temps, Ravine Cyrique, Space Mountain and some segments of the Waitukubuli national trail.
Good guides are Elvis, call/whatsapp (+1767) 225-1971
Or Nathan, call/whatsapp (+1767) 616-2047
